Ingredients
- 1 lb (500 g) Canadian Pork Strips
- 2 tsp (10 ml) EACH sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, water
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) water
- 2 tbsp (25 ml) EACH soy sauce, oyster sauce
- 2 tsp (10 ml) Chinese rice wine or white wine, optional
- 2 tbsp (25 ml) peanut or olive oil
- 1 EACH sweet red and green pepper, in thin strips
- 4 tsp (20 ml) cornstarch
- 1 tsp (5 ml) EACH finely chopped garlic, minced fresh ginger, shallots
Preparation
Combine sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil and 2 tsp (10 mL) water in a shallow dish; add pork; toss and marinate 15 minutes. Combine 1/2 cup water with 2 Tbsp soy sauce, oyster sauce, and wine; mix well and set aside. In a wok or large skillet, heat oil. Add peppers and stir-fry over medium-high heat for 30 seconds; remove; set aside. Sprinkle pork with cornstarch and toss; stir-fry with garlic, ginger and shallots until pork is lightly browned. Add water/sauce mixture; simmer 4 minutes or until sauce is thickened. Stir in peppers and heat thoroughly. Serve over rice or noodles.
