Supporting the Next Generation of Culinary Talent
Alberta Pork is proud to support culinary arts education programs that help students connect with where their food comes from and how to prepare it with confidence.
Across Alberta, high school culinary classrooms are shaping the next generation of chefs, food professionals, and skilled home cooks. These programs give students hands-on experience in the kitchen while building confidence, creativity, and practical food skills that carry far beyond the classroom.
Bringing Pork into the Classroom
As part of our commitment to food education, Alberta Pork is partnering with high school culinary programs through our Future Chefs Project. This initiative is designed to support teachers, engage students, and bring real-world food connections into the classroom.
Participating schools receive classroom resources and a visit from our team, where we capture students in action in their school kitchens. These classes are then featured on our social media channels and highlighted on our website.
It’s a simple way to support student skills while adding something new and engaging to the classroom experience.
Why Culinary Education Matters
Culinary programs play an important role in helping students build lifelong skills. From understanding different cuts of meat to learning safe food handling and preparation techniques, these experiences give students a strong foundation in food literacy.
Pork is a versatile, nutritious, and affordable protein that fits naturally into these programs. It offers students the opportunity to explore a wide range of cooking methods and flavours, while learning how to work with different cuts in practical, hands-on ways.
